MY APPROACH
I offer consulting support and additional capacity to clients who are working on complex projects. Complexity can take many forms, such as working through transformation and change, working to deliver strong outcomes with limited resources, and working in situations of disagreement or conflict. My clients are highly capable people and they will always be the expert in their particular field. My expertise is technical as I specialise in the process of working through complexity to reach the desired outcome. By combining our respective 'content' and 'process' expertise, together we can overcome obstacles and navigate the route to success.

I work in a bespoke way with each client and I usually structure my work around four questions:
1) Where are you now?
We start by looking honestly at the current situation. What's going on and how did you get here? What is getting in your way? What resources do you have at your disposal? Who are your allies? We need to look with clear eyes and ensure we have a shared understanding of the starting point for our work together.
2) Where do you want to be?
Next we establish what success would look like. What do you want? How will you know when you've got it? We focus on the future and create a clear picture of your desired outcome.
3) How can we get from here to there?
Then we set out a path to get from here to there. What is the most efficient route? Which barriers do we need to remove or avoid? Who do you need to take with you? We analyse the options and create a clear plan that will enable you to achieve success.
4) How can I support you to succeed?
This question can be as big or as small as you want it to be. Some clients are ready to go after working through the first three questions together and just want to be accompanied or held to account from a distance. Others are looking for specific support, often by adding capacity in an area of focus.
[Some examples of support that clients have requested in the past include: designing and delivering bespoke training sessions, developing new systems and processes, creating a communications and engagement plan, facilitating away days, conducting a programme evaluation.]
EXPERIENCE
For the last decade I have worked in the public and charity sectors in the areas of leadership and governance, training and development, and change management. I have worked with individuals and teams at various levels within a range of organisations and I am an accredited coach.
As a Non-Executive Director for the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust and Qualifications Wales, I work as part of the Board to ensure that the organisations are operating effectively, efficiently, and in the best interests of the public that they serve. I am used to working at pace to assimilate a large amount of information, and can see the path through to identify the most relevant themes and priorities. This skill has served me well throughout my career to date!
I have several years experience of executive coaching, working with individual leaders to enable them to build high-performing teams with a strong sense of purpose and direction. My consulting work is rooted in this approach, as I am practised at paying close attention to the client and their situation and enabling us to "get to the heart of things".
I have held a range of management roles, most recently working as a Change Manager for a transformation programme in the third sector. I bring a broad toolkit of techniques to my work, drawing on experiences of programme management, leading change, managing complex partnerships, strategy development and delivery, and running a work-based teacher training programme.
I have also delivered a variety of training in coaching, change management, resilience and leadership development at conferences in Cardiff, London, Leeds and online.
